1. Cold hands, warm heart.



Having cold hands is an indication of warmheartedness; used as a rejoinder if one finds that another's hands are cold.


Κρύα χέρια, ζεστή καρδιά. | Όσοι έχουν κρύα χέρια θεωρούνται ότι είναι ερωτευμένοι.



2. A friend in need is a friend indeed.



Someone who helps you when you are in need is a true friend.


Ο φίλος στην ανάγκη φαίνεται



3. A leopard cannot change its spots.


something that you say which means that a person's character, especially if it is bad, will not change, even if they pretend it has.


- Πρώτα βγαίνει ή ψυχή του ανθρώπου και μετά το χούι του.
- Ο λύκος κι αν εγέρασε κι άλλαξε το μαλλί του, ούτε την γνώμη άλλαξε, ούτε την κεφαλή του.
- Έξις δευτέρα φύσις.



4. A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush.



It's better to have something small and reliable than something big and risky.


Κάλιο πέντε και στο χέρι παρα δέκα και καρτέρει.



5. A little knowledge is a dangerous thing.



A small amount of knowledge can cause people to think they are more expert than they are and consequently make unwise choices.


Η ημιμάθεια είναι χειρότερη απο την αμάθεια.



6. A fool, and his money, are easily parted!



Something that you say which means that stupid people spend money without thinking about it enough.


Ο βλάκας ξοδεύει όλα τα λεφτά του χωρίς να σκεφτεί ότι θα τελειώσουν γρήγορα.



7. A picture is worth a thousand words.



You use this proverb to say that a picture can give you as much information as a written or spoken text with a lot of words can.


Μια εικόνα αξίζει όσο χίλιες λέξεις.



8. Birds of a feather flock together.



People who are a lot alike tend to gather together and become friends. This can be used to mean that people are alike in both good ways and bad ways.


Όμοιος τον όμοιο και η κοπριά στα λάχανα.
Βρήκε ο γύφτος την γενιά του κι αναγάλλιασε η καρδιά του
Κύλησε ο τέντζερης και βρήκε το καπάκι.
Αν δεν ταιριάζανε δεν θα συμπεθεριάζανε.



9. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.



You use this proverb to say that different people have different opinions about what is good, beautiful, valuable.


Η ομορφιά είναι υποκειμενική.



10. The early bird catches the worm.



Success comes to those who prepare well and put in effort.


θέλεις πλούτη και τιμή, μην κοιμάσαι την αυγή.
Όποιος πάει νωρίς στον μύλο, εκείνος αλέθει.
το πρωινό πουλί πιάνει το σπυρί.
